About Stabilizing

Stabilized wood is natural wood that has had an acrylic polymer forced into the wood using vacuum and high pressure. This acrylic makes woods that are usually too soft or fragile to use into usable pieces.

Most wood once stabilized will be denser, more dimensionally stable, resistant to water, and harder.

Some wood does not take to stabilizing very well, such as Ironwood, Myrtle, and oily woods like cocobolo

Stabilizing is very useful for spalted and burled wood.
